BASAD condemns ‘mob terrorism’ at JaSaD office, demands release of arrested leaders-workers

Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BASAD) has strongly condemned and protested by raising the allegation of ‘mob terrorism’ and police drive at the JaSaD office. At the same time the party has demanded the immediate release of the arrested leaders-workers of JaSaD and taking measures against those involved in the attack.

Central committee general secretary of BASAD Comrade Bazlur Rashid Firoz made this demand in a statement sent to the media on Saturday (September 26).

In the statement he said holding processions, meetings and gatherings is the constitutional and democratic right of the citizen. The main word of democracy is tolerance and tolerance of different opinions. After the fall of the autocratic government an elected government is now running the state in the country. Therefore the people do not expect the same type of behaviour from the present government as that of the previous government.

Firoz said the fallen autocratic government used to disrupt the meetings and gatherings of various political parties by giving various tags and arrest their leaders-workers. The repetition of such behavior is not desirable in the tenure of the present government.

He said during the predetermined representative meeting first mob terrorism and later the police came and detained the leaders-workers of JaSaD along with the people present and took them away as informed from the side of JaSaD. The party has further informed that no secret meeting was being held there; they had organized the representative meeting by seeking the permission of the police and the arrangement of security.

The BASAD leader said JaSaD is not any banned organization. If there is any specific allegation or case against anyone of that party the police and the law and order maintaining forces can take legal measures against him. But obstructing the activities of any political party by carrying out mob terrorism and attack is contrary to democracy.

In the statement the demand of taking measures against those involved in the attack and mob terrorism at the JaSaD office and the immediate release of the arrested leaders-workers has been made.

Meanwhile Firoz has also condemned and protested the incident of attack at RADDA MCH-FP Centre located at Mirpur-1 number section at midnight last Thursday.

In the statement he said according to the allegation of the clinic authorities at least more than two hundred masked persons entered inside the healthcare centre by making the security guards hostage. At this time they looted medical equipment, medicine, government vaccines, cash money and various important materials and took them away.

BASAD general secretary demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the incident of attack and looting at the vaccine centre of Mirpur and exemplary punishment. At the same time he also demanded banning police interference in the democratic movement by making law.
