BDR family members places three-point demand
BDR family members have formed a human chain demanding justice for the victims, victims of oppression and the BDR murder.
BDR family members formed this human chain at the foot of the Raju statue of Dhaka University on Sunday.
At the same time, the Secretary General of the Labour Party said, BDR has guarded the country's borders by risking their lives. But unfortunately, today they are still in jail. They are still being oppressed. We want to tell the interim government to immediately release the BDR members and bring justice to the murders, otherwise the people of the whole country will take to the streets again.
Mahin Sarkar, coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement in the human chain, said, there will be no more excuses for the BDR members. The BDR members must be released and brought to justice quickly. Those who are of age must be retained in their jobs.
The speakers in the human chain raised three demands. The demands are, identify the individuals responsible for the 74 murders, including 57 army officers who were brutally murdered in Peelkhana, and ensure exemplary punishment as soon as possible, and demand the release of all innocent BDR members. All those who have been unjustly dismissed by mass arrests through 18 special courts of farce should be reinstated or rejoined in government service with all kinds of benefits (such as ration, salary allowances, promotions). Clause 2 (e) mentioned in the notification must be deleted to ensure that the investigation commission works independently, impartially and fearlessly.
Earlier (January 11), Mahin Sarkar, coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced a human chain program across the country demanding a trial in the Peelkhana murder case and justice for the affected BDR members.
