BNP secretary-general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said, “Begum Zia has sacrificed her life for democracy. Her physical complications began while she was in prison, and due to insufficient treatment there, her condition became critical.”

He made this remark while attending a prayer gathering on Friday, December 5, at a mosque in Naya Paltan seeking recovery for Begum Khaleda Zia.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “People of Bangladesh, regardless of party affiliation or ideology, are praying for the recovery of this great leader. Everyone is praying that she returns to us fully healthy and that we can move ahead under her guidance during this critical period in the country.”

Regarding Khaleda Zia’s possible transfer to London, the BNP secretary-general said, “Doctors are trying relentlessly for her recovery. If the special air ambulance sent from Qatar arrives on Saturday, she will be taken to London on Sunday. However, whether she will be able to board the flight depends entirely on the doctors. As she is still critically ill, the decision will be finalised only after medical approval.”

At the end, Mirza Fakhrul sought prayers from everyone and said, “Let us all pray together to the Almighty so that the leader who has fought for democracy throughout her life recovers and returns to us.”
