BGB deployed across Dhaka, Gazipur to ensure smooth, safe Eid travel
Border Guard Bangladesh has been deployed in Dhaka and surrounding areas ahead of Eid-ul-Azha to help maintain law and order, ease traffic congestion and ensure safe and uninterrupted travel for holidaymakers.
The deployment was confirmed on Thursday by BGB Public Relations Officer Md. Shariful Islam, who said members of the force have already been stationed at several key and traffic-prone points in and around the capital.
The areas under heightened monitoring include New Market, the Elevated Expressway, Savar’s Nabinagar and Baipail corridors, Gazipur City Corporation areas and Gazipur Chourasta — all considered major pressure points during the Eid exodus.
According to the BGB, personnel will work in coordination with other law enforcement agencies to reduce public suffering and maintain discipline on highways and major roads during the peak travel period.
Security and surveillance measures are also being strengthened at toll plazas, highways and congestion hotspots to ensure smoother traffic movement.
The force will additionally assist executive magistrates in operating mobile courts as part of broader enforcement efforts during the holiday season.
Officials said the deployment will remain in effect from seven days before Eid until three days after the festival, in line with government directives.
Authorities expect a sharp rise in outbound traffic as millions of people leave the capital to celebrate Eid with families in their hometowns, prompting advance security and traffic management preparations.
