BGB deployed in 11 districts to tackle flood situation
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in 11 districts to tackle the disaster caused by heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides, the agency said on Sunday, July 12.
The districts are Bandarban, Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Chattogram, Feni, Sylhet, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Netrokona and Jamalpur.
BGB personnel are conducting rescue operations, sheltering affected people, distributing relief, providing emergency healthcare, restoring communication infrastructure and securing vulnerable structures.
In Bandarban, over 600 people, including 116 tourists, have been rescued from flood-hit areas. Food supplies have been distributed and 48 people have received emergency medical care.
BGB is also working to restore road communication by clearing fallen trees and debris on the Bandarban-Roangchhari road, and has taken preventive measures to protect a steel bridge in Naikhongchhari, Cox's Bazar.
