The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed at 19 fuel depots across the country to maintain order in distribution, prevent hoarding, and ensure uninterrupted supply of petroleum products.

A BGB statement issued on Saturday (March 28), signed by Public Relations Officer Md. Shariful Islam, said the deployment follows instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs amid global fuel shortages and price hikes triggered by the ongoing Middle East situation.

Since March 25, BGB personnel have been stationed in depots across nine districts, including Dhaka, Kurigram, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Cumilla, Brahmanbaria, and Sunamganj.

Officers lead the deployed teams from temporary base camps, overseeing security, monitoring operations, and coordinating administration.

The statement added that intelligence monitoring has been intensified to prevent illegal storage, unauthorised sales, and sabotage. Additional patrols, naval surveillance, checkpoints, and inspections of import-export vehicles are also being carried out to secure fuel supply.
