The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has thwarted eight separate push-in attempts by India's Border Security Force (BSF) along different frontier points over the past 24 hours.

The information was disclosed on Saturday (June 6) by BGB Headquarters Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam.

According to BGB, its patrol teams prevented three individuals from being pushed into Bangladesh through the Jadavpur border in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah after taking positions along the zero line. The individuals later returned to Indian territory.

In a separate incident, BGB personnel foiled an attempt to push 17 people across the Kormudanga border in Naogaon. Similar efforts involving 21 individuals were also blocked at the Borokhata and Poishottibari border points in Lalmonirhat.

The border force further reported that attempts to push seven people through the Dighaltari border and four others through the Durgapur border in Lalmonirhat were unsuccessful due to BGB's strict vigilance. The individuals are currently staying in char areas outside the border fence on the Indian side.

Meanwhile, a company commander-level flag meeting was held between BGB and BSF regarding 10 individuals who were reportedly brought to the unfenced area near the Borobari Pradhanpara border in Panchagarh. During the meeting, BSF claimed the individuals were Bangladeshi nationals. However, BGB said no credible documents or evidence were presented to substantiate the claim.

BGB also reported that 16 to 17 individuals who had been gathered at a government primary school in India’s Assam state opposite the Netrokona border were later moved elsewhere amid heightened monitoring by Bangladeshi border guards.

The border force reiterated that any push-in attempt outside established border management protocols and bilateral understandings between the two countries is unacceptable.

"BGB remains committed to safeguarding the country's sovereignty and ensuring border security through all necessary measures," the force said.
