The recently concluded Bangladesh Investment Summit 2025 has generated preliminary investment proposals amounting to Tk 3,100 crore, according to Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).

He shared the information during a press conference held on Sunday at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital.

The BIDA Chairman said, "More investment proposals are in the pipeline."

He said, "The total cost of organizing this summit was around Tk1.5 crore from the government. However, our partners spent about Tk3.5 crore. In total, the four-day summit cost about Tk 5 crore. Also, 10 proposed economic zones have been canceled."

Nahiyan Rahman Rochi, Head of BIDA’s Business Development Department, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, and Deputy Press Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar were also present at the press conference.

Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun said, "This summit helped bring in more than Tk3,000 crore in investments. The government spent only Tk1.5 crore. But the success of the summit shouldn't be judged just by expenses. All the investment didn’t come directly from the summit—it is the result of ongoing discussions. It’s not like someone decided to invest Tk100 crore just by attending a four-day event. So, this shouldn’t be seen as the sole success of the summit."

"We arranged factory visits for foreign investors and showed them where they could set up factories. The investors were happy and showed real interest in investing in Bangladesh. Our goal is to make sure we are not left out from the list of investment destinations. At the same time, we will continue with reforms and keep building the investment pipeline," he added.

Nahiyan Rahman Rochi, Head of the Business Development Department at BIDA, said, "At the opening event, 750 people attended, including 415 foreign participants. In total, more than 3,500 people took part in the summit. There were 130 speakers and panelists."
