Bidisha Ershad arrested in fraud case

Bidisha Ershad, second wife of former president and founder chairman of Jatiya Party Hussain Muhammad Ershad, has been arrested by police. She has been arrested on the basis of the sentence and warrant issued by the court in a fraud case, police informed.

Bidisha Ershad was arrested from the Gulshan area of the capital around 8:30pm on Tuesday (August 25). Officer-in-Charge of Gulshan Police Station Daud Hossain has confirmed the matter.

Police said that the court sentenced Bidisha Ershad to two years’ imprisonment along with a fine of 10 thousand taka in a fraud case. After the pronouncement of the sentence in that case an arrest warrant was issued against her.

Officer-in-Charge of Gulshan Police Station Daud Hossain said that Bidisha Ershad has been arrested on the basis of that warrant issued by the court. She was detained by conducting a drive in the Gulshan area on Tuesday night.

Police have informed that after the arrest preparations are being made to send Bidisha Ershad to court in the related case. Legal measures will be taken regarding her as per the subsequent directions of the court.
