Biman Bangladesh suspends Dhaka–Manchester flights from February
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has decided to suspend its regular Dhaka–Manchester–Dhaka flights, citing aircraft shortages, preparations for the upcoming Hajj operations, and long-term maintenance of its existing fleet.
The suspension will take effect from February 1 and remain in place until further notice, the national carrier said on Sunday. The decision was taken by Biman’s board of directors.
To minimise inconvenience to passengers, Biman said it will offer alternative travel options on the Dhaka–London–Dhaka route. Passengers will also be eligible for date changes, ticket refunds and other support in line with the airline’s existing policies.
Biman’s General Manager (Public Relations) Bosra Islam said the temporary move was aimed at ensuring optimal aircraft utilisation and operational efficiency across the network. “With a limited number of aircraft, Hajj flight preparations and several planes undergoing long-term maintenance, this decision was necessary,” she said.
Passengers have been advised to contact Biman’s ticket sales offices in Dhaka and London, the airline’s call centre (13636 or +88-096109-13636), or authorised travel agents for assistance.
The airline said it will announce the resumption of flights on the Dhaka–Manchester route in due course.
