Biman cabin crew Mirza Adnan in UAE police custody

Mirza Adnan, a cabin crew member of Biman Bangladesh Airlines who had been 'missing' for five days while on duty in the United Arab Emirates, is currently in the custody of the country's CID police. However, authorities in the UAE have not yet provided any explanation regarding the specific charges or grounds for his detention.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines' Acting General Manager of Public Relations Muhammad Mohiuddin said Adnan was detained by immigration authorities upon arrival in the UAE for flight operations. He said immigration authorities typically do not disclose the reason for detention. He will either be released after their investigation or face legal action if evidence of any offence is found.

A source at Biman's Sharjah station said Mirza Adnan was detained by immigration authorities at Sharjah Airport on July 22 after operating flight BG-151. He was later transferred to Abu Dhabi CID police for further investigation and interrogation. He is currently being held there.

Sharjah Station Manager Zakir Hossain said Sharjah CID has handed over Adnan to Abu Dhabi CID. The Bangladesh Embassy and Biman's Abu Dhabi station have been informed. He said contact was made with Sharjah Airport police and immigration officials, but they did not provide any information regarding the reason for his detention.

Biman's Abu Dhabi Station Manager Anwar Ul Firdaus said they have contacted Abu Dhabi Airport authorities and CID. However, the concerned authorities have not yet agreed to provide any information. They have been informed that necessary information will be provided as the investigation progresses. The Bangladesh Embassy is also closely monitoring the matter.
