Biman flight stranded in Rome set to arrive Dhaka at noon

Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ flight BG-306, which was stranded at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport after developing a technical problem, has resumed its journey to Dhaka after repairs and is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:20pm on Sunday (August 9).

Biman Bangladesh Airlines spokesperson Bosra Islam confirmed the development, saying the flight had departed Rome for Dhaka and was expected to arrive around noon.

A team of Biman engineers and necessary spare parts had been flown from Dhaka to Rome to repair the aircraft. The team arrived aboard Biman’s BG-305 flight, which landed at Fiumicino at 11:16pm on Saturday.

The engineers then worked to identify and fix the technical fault, allowing the aircraft to resume its journey.

The Boeing 777-300ER had originally departed Toronto Pearson International Airport for Dhaka on Thursday with more than 250 passengers on board. After around eight hours in the air, the aircraft landed in Rome at 7:19am on Friday for refuelling.

A technical problem was detected shortly after, at around 7:20am, leaving the aircraft grounded at Fiumicino Airport.

Biman arranged hotel accommodation, meals and other necessary assistance for passengers stranded in Rome while the aircraft underwent repairs.

With the technical problem now resolved, the passengers are expected to continue their journey to Dhaka on the same aircraft.
