Bird Fair held at JU
A day-long 'Bird Fair' was organised at Jahangirnagar University (JU) to raise public awareness about bird conservation.
JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan inaugurated the fair by releasing balloons in front of the university's Zahir Raihan Auditorium at 10am on Friday (January 3).
Stating that the construction of infrastructure at Jahangirnagar University is also affecting the habitat of birds, Vice Chancellor Kamrul Ahsan said in his speech as the chief guest, “Everyone should be more aware to ensure the safe habitat of migratory birds at the university.”
He said along with humans, animals also have their own value and rights. “Our responsibility is to protect the interests of animals while taking any initiative and not to destroy the balance of their lives.”
‘Big Bird Bangladesh’, ‘Scientific Publication Award’, ‘Conservation Media Award’ and ‘Special Recognition Award-2025’ were distributed at the fair.
