BNP alleges ‘election engineering’ in specific constituencies
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has alleged that “election engineering” was carried out in several specific constituencies in an attempt to ensure the victory of certain candidates in the national parliamentary election.
At a press conference, Mahdi Amin, spokesperson of the BNP’s National Parliamentary Election Management Committee and adviser to the party chairperson, accused Jamaat-e-Islami of irregularities including manipulation, fraud, and the capture of polling centers.
He said, “Despite all this, the unofficial results we are receiving indicate that, backed by the love and support of the people, our party will form the government with more than a two-thirds majority.”
The BNP also claimed that its Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has been unofficially elected in both of his constituencies—Bogura-6 and Dhaka-17.
Mahdi Amin further alleged that in several constituencies in Dhaka city, including Dhaka-8, Dhaka-11, and Dhaka-16, the announcement of results is being deliberately delayed.
He added, “In certain constituencies, election engineering has taken place to ensure the victory of particular candidates.”
