The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has begun distributing and receiving nomination forms for the reserved women’s seats in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament).

BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi formally inaugurated the process today (April 10).

The nomination form fee has been set at Tk 50,000.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Rizvi said maintaining democratic continuity in the country is essential.

He added that candidates for the reserved seats would be selected from among women leaders who, he claimed, faced various forms of repression during the previous Awami League government.

Rizvi also said BNP women leaders have long remained in the opposition, enduring political pressure, harassment, and imprisonment, making their aspirations for nomination natural.

However, he stressed that the party’s nomination board will take a final decision after evaluating all factors.

He urged party members to accept and respect the final decisions of the BNP leadership.
