The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has canceled its scheduled election rally in Dhaka on February 8. Instead of the rally, BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman will deliver election speeches under alternative programs in various areas of Dhaka North and South on February 8 and 9.

The information was announced on Friday (February 6) at a press conference held at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, by the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

Rizvi said that the decision was taken to replace the previously scheduled rally with a series of election speeches across different areas of the metropolitan city. He added that this approach would allow more direct engagement with the general public.

At the press conference, Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) Vice President (VP) Abdur Rashid Jitu joined the BNP. At the same time, several elected student leaders from different levels of central hall unions also joined the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatradal.

Regarding the inclusion of new leadership, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that young leaders are joining BNP politics inspired by the party’s role and contributions in protecting the country’s independence and sovereignty.

On the occasion, Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatradal President Rakibul Islam Rakib said that new leadership of the organization would be announced soon to further energize its activities.
