BNP fields strong candidates in constituencies of key NCP leaders

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced candidates for 237 constituencies ahead of the 13th national election. The list includes heavyweight contenders in constituencies linked to central leaders of the National Citizens Party (NCP), many of whom were at the forefront of the July movement.

According to the list, BNP has nominated Emdadul Haque Bhorsa for Rangpur-4 (Kaunia and Pirgacha), the home constituency of NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain. In Cumilla-4 (Debidwar), the home area of NCP South Region Chief Organiser Hasnat Abdullah, BNP nominated Manjurul Ahsan Munshi.

Barrister Naushad Zamir has been nominated for Panchagarh-1 (Sadar, Atwari, and Tentulia), the home constituency of NCP North Region Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam. Mahmudur Rahman Shamim has been selected for Noakhali-6 (Hatia), linked to NCP Senior Joint Chief Organiser Abdul Hannan Masud, while Mominul Haque will contest in Chandpur-5 (Hajiganj and Shahrasti), the home of NCP Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwari.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the preliminary list at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Monday afternoon (November 3).
