BNP has full confidence in Election Commission: Mirza Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the party has “100 percent confidence” in the Election Commission and expects it to conduct a free and fair election.
He made the remarks while speaking at a tribute programme at Zia Udyan in the capital on the 90th birth anniversary of late President Ziaur Rahman on Monday (January 19).
Fakhrul emphasised BNP’s commitment to building a liberal and democratic Bangladesh. He added that following the February 12 national election, the party aims to restore the economy and uphold democratic values based on Ziaur Rahman’s ideals.
Acknowledging challenges during the Election Commission’s verification process, Fakhrul said the body is functioning competently, and BNP trusts it will handle the upcoming polls responsibly.
Senior party leaders, including Joint Secretaries Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Khairul Kabir Khokon, Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, and other Dhaka city leaders attended the programme.
