BNP leader Mirza Abbas returning from Malaysia on Sep 2

BNP Standing Committee member and Prime Minister's Political Adviser Mirza Abbas is returning home after undergoing medical treatment in Singapore and Malaysia for over five months . He is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight around 9pm on Wednesday (September 2) .

BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the information on Sunday (August 30) . He said Mirza Abbas's physical condition has improved significantly compared to before and that the decision to bring him back was made on the advice of a medical board .

Mirza Abbas suddenly fell ill and lost consciousness on March 11 . He was rushed to Evercare Hospital in the capital and underwent brain surgery by a team of neurological specialists . On March 15, he was taken to Singapore General Hospital by air ambulance for advanced treatment . After several weeks there, he was moved to Malaysia's Prince Court Medical Centre for specialised physiotherapy and rehabilitation .

The senior BNP leader has since been undergoing regular therapy and rehabilitation, gradually recovering . According to party sources, following his return, he may gradually prepare to resume normal political activities in accordance with doctors' advice.

Mirza Abbas is the Member of Parliament for Dhaka-8 constituency and has remained largely absent from political activities during his medical treatment abroad.
