A three-member delegation from Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) met with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin on Sunday afternoon to discuss the Election Commission’s overall preparedness ahead of the upcoming national polls.

The meeting began at 4:00 PM at Election Commission headquarters at Agargaon in Dhaka.

BNP team was led by party Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, accompanied by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Chairperson’s Adviser Ismail Jobayer Zabiullah.

Speaking to reporters before the meeting, Nazrul Islam Khan said, “We have sought time to speak with the CEC about the Commission’s overall preparation for the upcoming election. CEC granted our request and we’re here to learn about EC’s progress.”

The Chief Adviser has already announced that the 13th National Parliamentary Election will be held before Ramadan in early February. A formal letter regarding this has also been sent to CEC.

The Election Commission has said it plans to complete all necessary preparations and announce election schedule in the first half of December; roughly two months before the proposed voting date.

An electoral roadmap detailing the timeline and implementation strategies is also expected to be released.
