BNP parliamentary party vows speedy trial of Pallabi child rape-murder

The parliamentary party meeting of BNP evaluated the activities of seven ministries over the past month, emphasised job-oriented education and discussed various important national issues. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday afternoon, June 6.

During the meeting, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed announced a tough stance against extortion and drugs, which received full support from the prime minister. The meeting also promised speedy trial of the child rape and murder case in Pallabi.

After the meeting, Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam briefed journalists, stating that ministers of seven ministries presented progress reports, existing problems and remedial measures of their respective ministries.

Citing the education minister, the chief whip said the prime minister has directed the inclusion of job-oriented education in the curriculum. The prime minister stated that education which does not make people skilled for work or capable of doing something abroad is not effective. Additionally, admission fees for Class XI have been reduced by Tk 2,000-3,000, and strict action will be taken against those charging extra fees.

Regarding the health sector, the meeting was informed that precautionary measures have been taken to tackle the dengue situation and prevent measles. The health ministry is taking strict measures to ensure the presence of doctors at the upazila level.

The Road Transport and Bridges Ministry has already tendered for 1,000 kilometres of new roads. The prime minister has instructed that work be completed at low cost and without corruption.

Steps have also been taken regarding youth training and employment creation, expansion of BKSP branches in and outside Dhaka, speedy completion of the Bangabandhu National Stadium renovation, and the development of women and children.
