The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has relieved Tanim Sufyani, a member of its media cell's digital team, from all responsibilities following scrutiny of his past political activities.

The decision, effective from today, was announced in a statement signed by BNP Media Cell Convener Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel on Monday (August 24).

Sufyani had been working as a graphic designer on the media cell's digital team.

According to the statement, various information about his previous political activities published on social media recently came to the attention of the authorities.

The BNP media cell said the information was considered inconsistent with its standards of professional transparency, trust and internal policies.

As a result, Sufyani has been removed from his position as a graphic designer and all other responsibilities associated with the BNP media cell, the statement said.

The party also made it clear that following his removal, Sufyani would have no authority or association with the media cell's name, identity, position, responsibilities or internal activities in any capacity.

Several posts circulating on social media had previously drawn attention to Sufyani's activities during the tenure of the now-banned Awami League government. The posts included comments about BNP's late chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia, as well as photographs of Sufyani with several Awami League leaders.
