Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman for securing an absolute majority in the 13th parliamentary elections. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expressed its gratitude to the Indian Prime Minister for this warm congratulatory message.

The BNP expressed its gratitude at a press conference on Friday (February 13) morning.

Earlier, in a post on social media X(formerly Twitter), Narendra Modi wrote, “I extend my warm congratulations to Tarique Rahman for leading BNP to a big victory in the parliamentary elections in Bangladesh.”

Modi also noted that the victory is a reflection of the deep trust of the people of Bangladesh in Tarique Rahman’s leadership. He assured India of its continued “support for a democratic, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh,” and said, “I look forward to working with you to strengthen our multifaceted relations and advance our common development goals.”

In response to the Indian Prime Minister's message, BNP's election management committee chairman Nazrul Islam Khan said, "We also thank him (Narendra Modi) on behalf of our party. We believe that under the leadership of our leader Tarique Rahman, the relations between the two countries and the mutual relations between the people of the two countries will be further strengthened."

Political analysts believe that this quick congratulatory message from the Indian Prime Minister indicates the close diplomatic relations between Delhi and the new government in the future.
