BNP to begin interviews for reserved women’s seat nominees this afternoon

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will begin interviews for candidates seeking nomination to reserved women’s seats in parliament from Friday afternoon (April 17).

The announcement was made on Thursday (April 16) at a press briefing at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

He said the party’s nomination board will conduct the interview process from 3:00pm on Friday, which will continue until 3:00pm on Saturday.

According to Rizvi, many aspirants have already submitted nomination forms for the reserved seats. He added that the party leadership will evaluate candidates through the interview process.

The BNP nomination board will include party chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia along with members of the standing committee.

On the first day, candidates from Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal and Faridpur divisions will be interviewed. On Saturday, aspirants from Chattogram, Sylhet, Cumilla, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions will appear before the board.

Party leaders said the process is aimed at finalising nominations for reserved women’s seats ahead of parliamentary procedures.
