BNP to brief on Khaleda Zia’s health in afternoon, security tightened around hospital

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, 79, remains under treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital, and the party will brief the media on her latest health condition on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a message from BNP’s media cell, her personal physician and standing committee member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain will hold a press briefing at 12pm on December 2 in front of the main gate of Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara.

Security has been tightened around the hospital since last night as Khaleda Zia continues to receive treatment there.

On Tuesday morning, barricades were seen on both sides of the main hospital gate. Police were deployed for security purposes, and no crowd or unnecessary gathering was allowed except for authorised individuals.

Hospital sources said police were stationed in the area to ensure smooth movement for patients and their families, prevent crowding around the hospital and strengthen security for Khaleda Zia.

Meanwhile, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to Evercare Hospital late at night to enquire about Khaleda Zia’s condition.

According to BNP sources, he visited the hospital on Monday night along with her personal physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain. They spoke with the medical team regarding her latest condition. Mirza Fakhrul did not make any public comment about her health after leaving the hospital.
