The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is set to form a cabinet of around 40 members as it prepares to assume the office following its election victory, party and administrative sources said.

The new ministers are scheduled to be sworn in on Tuesday.

The cabinet under BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman is expected to include a mix of senior leaders, younger figures, coalition partners and technocrats.

Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin will administer the oath to newly elected MPs at 10:00am at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. The parliamentary party will then elect its leader, who will be appointed prime minister by President Mohammad Shahabuddin upon confirmation of majority support. The cabinet will take oath later the same day.

Invitations have been sent to representatives of 13 countries to attend the ceremony.

After the swearing-in, the prime minister and cabinet members are expected to pay tribute at the National Memorial in Savar.
