BNP top leaders meet Pakistan’s FM in Dhaka
Senior leaders of Bangladesh’s opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) met with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday night (August 23) during his official visit to Dhaka.
The meeting took place at the Pakistan Embassy in the capital and was followed by a dinner, confirmed BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan.
The BNP delegation was led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and included standing committee members Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Selima Rahman, Former Home Minister and BNP Vice Chairman Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and International Affairs Committee member Shama Obaid.
Representing Pakistan, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar was accompanied by former and current High Commissioners Imran Ahmed Siddiqui and Imran Haider, State Bank Governor Tariq Bajwa, and senior officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Protocol Department.
While no official statement was issued regarding the content of the discussions, the high-level engagement comes amid Ishaq Dar’s three-day visit to Bangladesh, during which he is scheduled to meet key figures including Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain.
Foreign Minister Dar arrived in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon and was received by Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
