The BNP has urged people not to crowd Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, where party chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia is undergoing treatment. The call was made in a press statement signed by senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday, November 29.

The statement said a large number of leaders, activists and members of the public are gathering at the hospital every day to see the critically ill Khaleda Zia. Their presence is driven by emotion and respect for their leader. However, the crowd is disrupting medical services for Khaleda Zia and other patients.

In this situation, the party and Khaleda Zia’s family have requested everyone not to gather at the hospital.

Khaleda Zia, 80, is currently under the care of a medical board comprising local and foreign specialists. The former prime minister has long been suffering from heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis, kidney complications and other conditions. Doctors say she is suffering from infections in her heart and lungs.
