BNP’s election manifesto highlights 9 key promises
Ahead of the 13th national parliamentary elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has unveiled its election manifesto, outlining nine major promises. Among these is the introduction of a “Family Card” scheme aimed at supporting low-income and marginalized families.
The manifesto was formally presented on Friday afternoon at the Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.
The nine key pledges highlighted in the manifesto include:
Launching the Family Card to provide support to marginalized and low-income families, ensuring a monthly allowance of Tk2,500 or equivalent essential goods, with plans to gradually increase the support.
Strengthening the Farmer Card programme to guarantee fair prices for agricultural produce through subsidies, easy loans, crop insurance, and state-managed marketing. Fishermen, livestock farmers, and small-scale agribusiness owners will also benefit from these measures.
To establish a corruption-free and humane healthcare system, 100,000 health workers will be recruited nationwide. District and metropolitan-level quality medical services, comprehensive maternal and child healthcare, and preventive health programs will be expanded.
To create a joyful and skill-oriented education system, a curriculum based on practical skills and values will be developed. Primary education will receive the highest focus, with technological support for teachers and students, and a mid-day meal program will be implemented.
For youth employment, measures will include creating jobs, improving technical and language skills, supporting startups and entrepreneurs, integrating into global e-commerce platforms, and ensuring merit-based government recruitment.
To develop sports as a profession and livelihood, sports infrastructure and training facilities will be expanded at the district and upazila levels.
To enhance environmental protection and climate resilience, initiatives will include voluntary participation in dredging and re-excavation of 10,000 km of rivers and canals, planting 150 million trees over five years, and introducing modern waste management systems.
To strengthen religious and social harmony, a welfare system based on stipends and training will be introduced for religious leaders of all faiths.
To expand the digital economy and global connectivity, initiatives include launching international payment systems (PayPal), establishing a regional e-commerce hub, and promoting the export of “Made in Bangladesh” products.
BNP describes the manifesto not just as an electoral promise, but as a new social and state contract. The party emphasizes belief in justice and humanity, rejecting politics of revenge.
According to BNP, if elected, the government will ensure a Bangladesh where voting rights are respected, terrorism and corruption are eradicated, and no one is above the law. The state will be managed on principles of production, rights, and justice, creating a nation where every citizen can proudly say: “Bangladesh comes first.”
