BNP's manifesto will have more promises than people's demand: Nazrul Islam Khan
BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said that BNP will develop the country beyond public demand. The party's final election manifesto will be released next Friday, which will have detailed mention of these.
He made the remarks while addressing a civic rally at Hatirjheel Amphitheater in the capital on Wednesday (February 4).
Nazrul Islam said that despite being outside the country for the past 17 years, Tarique Rahman has always thought about the development of the country and its people. Awami League has made the country poor, now only Tarique Rahman has the power to pull the country out of this rubble.
Highlighting the importance of experience, he said, 'Even if people look for household helps, they want experienced one, so why not choose an experienced leader to run the country? To save the country, we must vote for the rice of an experienced leader.'
Regarding the eviction of slum dwellers, Nazrul Islam Khan said, 'The opponents are scaring people that they will be evicted from the Karail slum. But we ask, does anyone want to live in a slum for the rest of their lives? BNP will provide 5,000 flats in advance for a permanent solution for slum dwellers.’
Promising to ensure women’s transportation and safe housing, he said, ‘If BNP comes to power, it will ensure safe housing for women and maximum safety of traveling on the highway.’
In addition, making a big announcement for transport workers, he said that BNP will arrange insurance for transport workers even if the government provides subsidies if necessary.
Criticizing the opponent Jamaat-e-Islami, Nazrul Islam said, ‘When we talk about family cards or agricultural cards, they criticize the idea saying that those are copied. But now they are talking about giving smart cards again. Even in imitation of our red-green buses, they are now dropping the red color and are introducing green vehicle. Whatever they do, we have no problem if they imitate good work.’
Emphasizing on saving the industrial sector to survive in global competition, he said, if industry survives, the country’s economy will prosper and the country will move forward.
