BNP's victory is certain: Mahdi Amin
BNP spokesperson for ‘Central Election Steering Committee’ Mahdi Amin on Thursday (February 12) expressed full confidence in the party’s victory, saying that the long-awaited opportunity for citizens to exercise their voting rights would secure the “Dhaner Shish” symbol’s win.
Speaking at a press conference at the BNP election committee office in the capital's Gulshan, Mahdi Amin said, “The enthusiastic turnout of voters at polling centres reflects the public’s democratic aspirations. Through a free and fair election, the victory of the Dhanshish symbol is now only a matter of time.”
He alleged that rival political parties, fearing defeat, had orchestrated unwanted and violent incidents in various parts of the country since Wednesday night. “These acts violate electoral codes of conduct and threaten the democratic process,” he added.
Mahdi Amin also cited instances of irregularities and alleged manipulation in some areas, including Hatiya in Noakhali and Chauddagram in Cumilla. He claimed that BNP polling agents were reportedly forced out of centres in Hatiya.
He accused opposition parties of creating fear through planned attacks in several constituencies and said BNP had already drawn the authorities’ attention, demanding immediate action.
Calling on the administration to ensure voter safety, Amin said the opposition is relying on force and violence due to losing ground in public support. He instructed party workers and supporters to patiently monitor polling centres and remain active until the end of voting.
Concluding the press conference, Mahdi Amin reiterated, “We have complete faith in the people’s mandate. No force can stop this victory, and we hope a transparent result will be presented to the nation by the end of the day.”
