Bodies of 9 killed in Saudi factory fire to arrive Thursday

The bodies of nine of the 16 Bangladeshi workers killed in a recent fire at a sofa manufacturing factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will arrive in the country tomorrow, Thursday, August 27.

The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment confirmed the information on Wednesday, August 26.

The ministry said the bodies of nine of the 16 Bangladeshis killed in the fire will arrive in Bangladesh tomorrow. They will arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 4pm on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG 340.

Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury will be present at the airport to receive the bodies.

The fire at the sofa factory in Riyadh on August 9 claimed the lives of 16 Bangladeshi workers.

The identities of the nine deceased were confirmed through fingerprint analysis. They are: Md Farid, Md Rubel Pramanik, Md Sohel Rana, Md Kolimuddin, Md Mohan Ali, Md Sumon Ali, Abdul Jalil Sardar of Naogaon, Rabiul Islam of Natore, and Md Shyamol Uddin Majhi of Rajshahi.
