Body of journalist Ali Mamud recovered from National Press Club
Police have recovered the body of Ali Mamud, a senior journalist of the daily Dinkal and a member of the BNP's media cell, from the National Press Club in the capital.
Police broke down the door of a toilet at the National Press Club after 9:00 am on Tuesday, February 10, and recovered the body.
Confirming the matter, Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Md Moniruzzaman, told the media that necessary legal procedures were being completed after the recovery. Preparations were being made for an autopsy to ascertain the precise cause of death.
Moniruzzaman said, "Family members had not been able to locate him since yesterday afternoon. Police went to the scene this morning after receiving a call from the General Secretary of the National Press Club. Later, the door of the toilet was broken open and his body was recovered in the presence of family members."
He further informed that the body was currently at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Initially, it is suspected that he died of cardiac arrest.
BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman and the convener of the media cell, Dr. Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel, have expressed deep sorrow and grief over his death.
