The body of Bangladeshi student Nahida Sultana Bristy, who was killed in Florida, arrived in Bangladesh.

An Emirates flight carrying the mortal remains arrived Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 8:40am on Saturday morning (May 9), following a transit in Dubai.

After completion of airport formalities, the body was scheduled to be taken by ambulance to her village home in Char Gobindapur under Madaripur Sadar upazila, where relatives, friends and locals gathered from early morning to pay their final respects to the young scholar.

Family members said Bristy’s namaz-e-janaza will be held after Asr prayers at the local Char Gobindapur High School field before she is laid to rest at the family graveyard.

According to sources, Bristy’s body was flown from Orlando International Airport on Thursday night (local time) on a special Emirates flight. A representative from the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami was present during the departure process.

Earlier, Bristy’s first funeral prayer was held in Tampa on Wednesday (local time).

Bristy and fellow Bangladeshi PhD student Zamil Ahmed Limon were killed in Florida. Limon’s body was brought to Bangladesh on May 4 and buried the same day in his hometown.
