Brain surgery on Mirza Abbas completed at Evercare Hospital
Brain surgery on Mirza Abbas, a standing committee member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and political adviser to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has been completed at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
The development was confirmed by BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam, who said a medical board of specialists decided to perform the operation after reviewing the patient’s condition.
He said a CT scan conducted earlier in the day indicated a deterioration in Abbas’s health, prompting doctors to convene a virtual meeting and recommend immediate surgery with the consent of his family.
The medical board included several prominent neurospecialists, among them Professors Ali Uzzaman Zowardar, Kazi Din Mohammad, Shahabuddin Talukdar, Raziul Haque, Syed Sayeed Ahmed, Kader Sheikh and Shafiqul Islam, along with specialists from Evercare Hospital.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the hospital and was briefed by the medical board about Abbas’s condition.
Abbas was admitted to Evercare Hospital after suddenly falling ill during iftar on March 11. His family has sought prayers from the public for his speedy recovery.
