Bridge Division Secretary Abdur Rauf's contractual appointment extended by one year

The government has extended the contractual appointment of Mohammad Abdur Rauf as Secretary of the Bridge Division for another year.

A notification in this regard was issued on Monday, September 21, signed by Md Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration. It stated that Abdur Rauf has been given a contractual appointment under Section 49 of the Government Employment Act, 2018.

According to the notification, Abdur Rauf's post-retirement leave (PRL) and related benefits will remain suspended. At the same time, he cannot be involved in any other profession or business during the contract period. He also cannot maintain work relations with any government, semi-government or private institution or organisation.

His contractual appointment will take effect from the date of joining. The appointment period will be one year. However, the notification stated that other conditions of this appointment will be determined through a separate contract.

Mohammad Abdur Rauf was promoted to the post of secretary on February 25, 2025. The next day, February 26, he took charge as Secretary of the Bridge Division.

According to government service rules, experienced officials are given contractual appointments after retirement based on special needs. In Abdur Rauf's case, this new one-year appointment has been given on the condition that his post-retirement leave and related benefits remain suspended.
