BRTA issues emergency directives for Eid road traffic
The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has issued urgent guidelines for public and freight transport ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, aiming to ensure smooth traffic flow on highways.
According to the notification, from March 17 to March 23, the movement of trucks, covered vans, and lorries on major highways will be temporarily banned.
Exemptions include vehicles carrying essential goods, perishable food, garments, medicines, fertilizers, and fuel.
Parking will also be prohibited along both sides of key roads during this period, the notification read.
The authority has also provided hotline numbers for emergency contact.
For emergencies, the BRTA has instructed contacting the Central Control Room of the Road Transport and Highways Department via hotline 16107 or mobile numbers 01550051606 and 01550056577.
