BTV earns Tk 8 crore against Tk 254 crore expenditure in 11 months: Info Minister

Bangladesh Television (BTV) earned Tk 8,05,35,000, including taxes, over the first 11 months of the current fiscal year up to May, while its expenditure during the same period stood at Tk 254,18,45,000, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon said.

The minister shared this information in the National Parliament in response to a query from Naogaon-3 constituency Member of Parliament Fazle Huda on Monday (June 22). He further specified that out of BTV's total revenue this year, Tk 5,07,09,417 was generated from the advertisement sector.

According to the data provided by the Information Minister, the state-owned television channel earned Tk 34,05,99,000 against an expenditure of Tk 280,81,36,000 in the 2020–21 fiscal year. In the 2021–22 fiscal year, its income was Tk 40,26,60,000 while the expenditure was Tk 285,47,27,000. For the 2022–23 fiscal year, the revenue stood at Tk 30,87,85,000 against an expense of Tk 370,61,51,000. In the 2023–24 fiscal year, the broadcaster generated Tk 44,21,22,000 in earnings while spending Tk 298,57,60,000. In the preceding 2024–25 fiscal year, BTV recorded an income of Tk 27,64,80,000 against a total expenditure of Tk 307,92,22,000.
