BTV to broadcast news of govt and opposition proportionally: State Minister

Urging the media to highlight the voice of the people, Information and Broadcasting State Minister Yaser Khan Chowdhury has said that news of the government and the opposition must be broadcast proportionally on state television.

He made these remarks at a press briefing at the Secretariat on Tuesday, August 25, regarding the progress of various government activities.

During the briefing, the State Minister said directives have been given to broadcast news proportionally on BTV and Sansad TV.

Noting that the media is enjoying the most freedom compared to the past, he said intelligence agencies have not called regarding news publication in the last six months.

The State Minister further said there have been no incidents of enforced disappearances or extrajudicial killings in the last six months. However, he added that broadcasting seditious news is not acceptable.
