Budget 2025-26: Tk 200 Crore allocated for Blue Economy and Scientific Research

The interim government has unveiled the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026. The budget was presented today, Monday at 3 PM, by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed. With the parliament currently not in session, the budget announcement was simultaneously broadcast via state-run BTV and various private media outlets.

In his budget speech, Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed highlighted the government's commitment to promoting scientific research and development. Nearly 16.66 crore taka has been allocated as special research grants to support 492 projects across various universities in the 2024-25 fiscal year.

Emphasizing the critical role of science in national development, the advisor proposed a 200 crore taka allocation for the upcoming fiscal year. This funding will support basic scientific research and initiatives focused on the sustainable management and utilization of marine resources, aiming to unlock the potential of the blue economy.
