Business leaders seek assurance of uninterrupted fuel supply: Finance minister

Business leaders have sought assurance of uninterrupted fuel supply, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has said.

He disclosed the information to journalists after the first meeting of the Private Sector Development Advisory Council at the Prime Minister's Office in the capital on Saturday, April 4.

The minister said business leaders also sought government assistance in using renewable energy or solar power. Additionally, they called for introducing e-visa for foreign travellers and reducing hassles at airports to ensure easy entry of foreign investors into Bangladesh.

Business leaders also emphasised reducing bank interest rates, reforming NBR, and expanding tax coverage instead of burdening specific businesses with taxes, he said. They also highlighted the need to simplify licence acquisition to encourage medium entrepreneurs in exports and to operationalise a deep seaport to accelerate import-export and trade.
