Inqilab Mancha Spokesperson Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi's Namaaz-E-Janaza is being held at 2:00pm on Saturday (December 20) at the South Plaza of the National Parliament. Since morning, thousands of mourners have gathered along Manik Mia Avenue and surrounding areas to attend the funeral prayer.

Interim government’s Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus attended the janaza, accompanied by members of the advisory council and Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman. Senior political figures from various parties were also present, including Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman and Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, and National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam.

An emergency stage has been set up on Manik Mia Avenue for the janaza. To ensure security, law enforcement agencies—including police, RAB, Ansar, APBN, BGB, and the army—have been deployed, along with intelligence personnel in plain clothes. Security has been arranged in three layers: hand-held metal detector checks, archway scanning, and controlled entry through barricades. The Special Branch (SB) and Special Security Force (SSF) are overseeing overall security.

DMP Media Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman said around 1,000 body-worn cameras have been deployed alongside a large police presence. Additionally, 20 platoons of BGB with riot control gear and 870 Ansar and VDP members are on duty.

Vehicular movement has been suspended from Khejur Bagan Crossing to Manik Mia Avenue, with DMP urging residents to use alternative routes. Authorities have banned carrying bags or heavy items at the venue and imposed a complete ban on drone flights in the Parliament area.

Hadi’s body was brought back to Dhaka from Singapore on Friday evening. After the janaza, he will be laid to rest beside the grave of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at Dhaka University.

A state mourning is being observed nationwide today in his memory, with national flags flown at half-mast at all government and private buildings, as well as Bangladeshi missions abroad.

Meanwhile, DUCSU VP Sadik Kayem has called for nationwide participation in Hadi’s janaza, announcing countrywide gayebana janaza prayers and “anti-hegemony coffin processions.”
