Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, along with Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, will oversee the parliamentary proceedings in Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's absence.

The development was confirmed through a notification issued on Tuesday night (March 17) from the Cabinet Division.

According to the notification, the Home Minister will supervise parliamentary matters related to the Defence Ministry, the Cabinet Division, and the Armed Forces Division when the Prime Minister is unavailable.

The notification includes a detailed list of alternate ministers to act in the absence of 25 cabinet ministers and two state ministers.

It further states that if both the assigned minister and their alternate are absent, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury will assume the responsibilities.

The new distribution of responsibilities is intended to maintain order in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad and ensure government representation under any circumstances.
