Mohammad Abdullah, an administrative officer of the Cabinet Division, has been dismissed from service for being absent from work without permission for a long period.

The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday (July 19). According to the notification, his dismissal is effective from August 6, 2025 — the day he was absent from work.

According to the notification, Abdullah was absent without permission as an administrative officer in the General Services-1 Sub-branch from August 6, 2025. He was issued a show-cause notice in this matter, but his explanation was not deemed satisfactory.

A departmental proceeding was later initiated against him under Section 3(c) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018 on charges of 'desertion'. After the investigation, the allegations were proven and a second show-cause notice was issued.

His response to that notice was also unsatisfactory, leading to a decision to dismiss him under Rule 4(3)(d) of the same rules. After obtaining the consent of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC), the Cabinet Division issued the final notification of his dismissal.
