Cabinet does not okay appointment of music teachers in primary schools: Minister
Primary and Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon has informed the National Parliament about the new decision on the appointment of music teachers in government primary schools.
In response to a question in the National Parliament session on Sunday, he said that the Cabinet Division has disapproved the creation of music teacher posts in primary schools.
Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami MP Md. Nurul Islam wanted to know what the current progress is even though the post of music teacher was created according to the Primary School Teacher Appointment Rules 2025.
In a written reply, the Minister said that the Cabinet Division did not approve the proposal to create this post, as a result, the music teacher appointment process has not progressed so far.
There have been differences of opinion and debate on this issue for a long time. Although the Ministry of Culture had proposed to appoint music teachers, it was later dropped in the revised rules. On the other hand, some religious organizations have been demanding the appointment of religious teachers instead of music education.
Overall, the issue of appointing music teachers at the primary level is currently on hold due to the government's policy stance.
