Cambodia deports over 3,000 Bangladeshis in 9 months
As part of its crackdown on online fraud, Cambodia deported more than 52,000 nationals from 87 countries in the first nine months of 2026, including over 3,000 Bangladeshis.
Cambodia-based media outlet BTV News Global reported this in a report published on 27 October, citing an official report of Cambodia’s General Department of Immigration.
According to the department’s data cited in the report, law enforcement agencies conducted 3,104 operations from January to September this year. In these operations, a total of 52,039 foreign nationals from 87 countries were detained and deported.
The report said the number of foreign nationals deported this year was 41,685 higher than in the same period of 2025, an increase of more than 400 percent.
Among those deported were about 23,000 Chinese, more than 8,000 Indonesians, more than 4,000 Vietnamese and more than 3,000 Bangladeshis. The country also deported more than 2,500 Pakistanis, nearly 2,000 Myanmar nationals and more than 1,500 Thais.
The report also said that more than 18,000 of those deported, from 38 countries, were identified as directly involved in online fraud. However, no separate figures were released on how many of the deported Bangladeshis were victims of human trafficking who were forced into such work.
