Cantonment thana OC in DB custody over audio leak incident

Md. Rakibul Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Cantonment thana of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has been taken into the custody of the Detective Branch (DB) for interrogation over the leak of a controversial audio recording on social media.

DB took him into custody on Thursday night (September 17).

Earlier, by an order of the DMP commissioner for administrative reasons, Rakibul Hasan was removed from the post of OC of Cantonment thana and attached to the central reserve office at DMP headquarters.

In the leaked audio, a person is heard discussing the field-level condition of the police, weaknesses of police members performing duties on the streets, various political issues and allegations of financial transactions in police postings.

A three-member investigation committee has been formed by DMP to uncover the authenticity of the audio and the main mystery of the incident. The committee includes DB officers and representatives of DMP headquarters.
