Carrying firearms, illegal substances banned in court premises notionwide

The Supreme Court administration has imposed a strict ban on carrying firearms, explosives, and drugs—licensed or unlicensed—within the premises of the Supreme Court, International Crimes Tribunal, and all subordinate courts and tribunals across the country.

The directive, issued through a notice signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Md. Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan on Wednesday (August 14), cites growing security concerns and recent incidents involving individuals bringing illegal items into court premises.

The notice emphasized that even licensed weapons and substances are prohibited, except for members of law enforcement agencies.

Violators will face legal action under the Arms Act and other applicable laws, the notificaion read.

The order takes effect immediately and will remain in place until further notice.
