A case has been filed against two gatemen in connection with the bus-train collision at a railway crossing in Cumilla that resulted in casualties. Helal Uddin and Mehedi Hasan, gatemen of Paduar Bazar railway crossing, have been named as accused in the case.

The case was filed on Monday, March 23, at Laksham Railway Police Station by Shefali Akhtar, aunt of Sohel Rana who died in the accident.

Laksham Railway Police Station (GRP) Officer-in-Charge Jasim Uddin confirmed the matter. However, no arrests have been made so far in connection with the incident.

Earlier on Sunday, Railway State Minister Habibur Rashid informed that gatemen Helal Uddin and Mehedi Hasan had been dismissed from duty, and legal action would be taken against the station master.

It is to be noted that on Saturday night, March 21, the 'Dhaka Mail' train heading from Chattogram to Dhaka struck a passenger bus named Mamun Paribahan travelling from Chapainawabganj to Noakhali at Paduar Bazar railway crossing in Cumilla. Twelve people were killed and at least 24 others were injured in the accident. The injured were rescued and admitted to Cumilla Medical College Hospital.
