CEC administers oath to newly elected MPs
The newly elected members of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad took their oaths on Tuesday (February 17) in a ceremony at the National Parliament House, administered by Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin.
The oath-taking concluded around 10:45 a.m. at the parliamentary oath chamber, beginning with a recitation from the Quran.
Typically, the Speaker administers the oaths to MPs, but due to post-uprising circumstances, the Chief Election Commissioner conducted the ceremony in accordance with constitutional provisions.
Out of 300 parliamentary seats, elections were held for 299 on Thursday. Voting in Sherpur-3 was postponed following the death of a candidate, and the results of two other constituencies are under court injunctions.
